I sent in my application online and got an email back within 5 days. We scheduled a phone screen, which went well. I was told what the next steps were. After that, I didn't hear anything, so I figured they chose someone else.

Behavioral Presentation

I applied and after a few weeks, I was called in for an interview with the regional and district managers. The interviews happened back-to-back at a store that was still under construction. The questions were mainly situational. They said I would hear back the following week. It ended up taking three weeks and multiple calls and emails before the district manager finally called. He told me I got the job but wanted to offer me 10k less than my desired salary. I asked for a couple of days to consider since it was a significant pay cut. He pushed for an answer by 10 pm that same night, even though they had already taken weeks to get back to me. I agreed to think about it, but called him back within a couple of hours to accept. He seemed happy and said he'd send the official offer on Monday. Again, the process dragged on for another three weeks before he called me to say they had decided to go with someone else. The lack of communication, the drawn-out process, and then withdrawing an offer for no stated reason felt really unprofessional to me.

Behavioral Presentation

Applied with Rose's at least 3 times on-line over 6-8 months. Third time got phone screened with a District Secretary. Invited to open house for new store, with scheduled appointment with DM. Had paperwork completed in advance. While waiting for DM, had preliminary interview with company HR manager, who did all the talking. DM comes in, interview with him and another DM from another district, all with the HR Corp Manager. They did all the talking, not interested in what I had to say, other than saying 'yes' to duties. DM stated he would see me ideally as a 'floater' between locations, asked if I'd mind. Corp HR sent a benefit package. After 9 days, got an offer from DM. He asked which applicant I was, made an offer to start in the farthest store. Accepted. It turned out to be a trainwreck.

Behavioral Other

I applied online and then a recruiter called me. I interviewed with her and she set me up to talk to the Regional Manager. A week later, I spoke with the Regional Manager, who asked me to drive 6 hours to a location where I met someone already in the company going for the same job. That was weird and disorganized. Feedback between stages is slow, if it comes at all. The whole thing was disorganized. Long after I'd forgotten about the interviews, I got a call from a different region. I wasn't about to waste more time and money traveling on my own, so I politely declined. It seems like an old boys club, and they don't attract new talent, which is a shame because their softlines department has potential with the right knowledge and fresh ideas. The region was changing at the Regional level, so maybe they'll get it together for future candidates.
