First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rose-Hulman Ventures.
Software Engineer Intern
For the Rose-Hulman Ventures internship, the interview involved a whiteboard explanation of the fullstack application process, covering how the frontend, backend, and database work together given a scenario. This was an in-person interview, preceded by a pre-screen at the career fair.
- Can you explain the fullstack application process and how the frontend, backend, and database operate within a specific scenario?
Intern
I talked with a rep at the career fair and sent them an email after. We scheduled a time to chat and they asked me about what I do at school and outside of school and then had me work through a technical problem.
- How would you build a program to find all anagrams for a word efficiently, considering you have a dictionary for preparation but not during execution, and the goal is maximum efficiency in the run phase?
Software Engineer Intern
Was brought into a conference room and asked a programming question, and I had to explain my thought process as I answered. They also asked some other screening questions, like what I liked about Rose-Hulman and what kind of projects I thought I'd be working on at Ventures.
- Can you figure out the number of duplicate characters in a string using data structures?
- Can you figure out the number of duplicate characters in a string without using data structures?
- What about the runtimes for each question?
Front End Developer
The interview kicks off with some technical questions, then we'll chat about the projects listed on your resume. I'll also ask about what you like most about your current projects. Usually, I'm the project manager conducting this.
- Can you solve an algorithm problem?
- Let's talk about the projects you've worked on.
- Tell me about your preferences for your current projects.
