I had scheduled a phone interview. When the interview time came, I didn't get a call. I almost thought I had the wrong time. The interviewer called 10 minutes late, and it went straight to voicemail. I could hear background noise of people talking in the voicemail. While I get that working remote has challenges, it seemed a bit unprofessional. This company already has reviews about a toxic culture, and the interviewer not calling on time didn't help. I'm not interested in working for them anymore.

I applied via a recruiter and my resume moved through the process quickly, taking about 3 weeks total. After the recruiter e-introduced me to company HR, she walked me through the whole process. Then, she set up a 30-minute phone screen with the hiring manager. We had a great chat about engineering challenges, team building, and my experience, relating it to the role. Next, I had a Zoom technical round with a DevOps team member. It went well, so I was scheduled for the onsite. At the onsite, I met with the VP of Platform, QA Manager, Director of Security, and VP of Engineering. I got to share my thoughts on their questions, and we discussed business scenarios and potential solutions. It was a great process.

My application for Associate Product Manager was cut due to budgeting. I applied in early September and was told engineering roles were prioritized. However, I received a homework assignment two weeks later. After submitting it, I waited three weeks for a response before being given an interview time. Communication from Roostify was minimal during this period. The initial phone screen went well, and Roostify was prompt in setting up the next two phone interviews, which was appreciated. These interviews were quite standard, asking about my product process and how I'd handle specific scenarios. The interviewers were very pleasant, and Roostify was responsive and helpful. Following the final phone interview, I was informed the next step was an onsite interview. After two weeks of little communication, I was notified that due to 'budgeting restrictions,' they couldn't arrange the onsite visit. I proposed conducting a series of video interviews instead, but was met with a blunt and unprofessional refusal, which ended my candidacy.

I was connected with a higher up via a recruiter. I had requested to be contacted through my professional email but was instead contacted directly through Facebook, which I don't use. As such I was two days late to respond and received a cold shoulder. The recruiter reprimanded me and forwarded Roostify's feedback that I was, "not taking the company seriously and am extremely unprofessional." Several of my peers have interacted with Roostify in various ways, including as software consultants. None have anything positive to say about the company's communication skills or their handling of projects.
