Behavioral Case

I applied to the Cool Springs location and met with the manager and office manager in the first interview. It was a great interview, really friendly and professional folks. They were open and transparent about the work environment and expectations. The atmosphere felt comfortable, and I got good vibes from the team and place. The follow-up interview was at another location, and again, everyone was friendly, open, and straightforward. I seriously considered the offer and think it would have been a great place to work. I declined only because an unexpected opportunity that aligned with my niche interests came up. I'd happily recommend this company; they seem to really invest in and care about their workforce.

I found the job opening online and decided to apply in person because I thought it would increase my chances of getting an interview compared to just sending a resume. After I submitted my application, the manager took a while to input it into their system. Then, she immediately took me to a couch on the sales floor for the interview. I was dressed nicely and didn't have immediate plans, so it wasn't a huge inconvenience, but it felt a bit presumptuous that she assumed I had time for an interview without asking first. She asked typical customer service and office job questions but didn't seem very engaged. She mentioned the job is full-time, with slightly variable hours expected to include weekends, nights, and holidays, and the pay is $8/hr. Given the current economy, I wasn't surprised by the low pay for a full-time role, as many large companies are exploiting the situation. Overall, she didn't appear to be in a rush to hire anyone. This position has been listed repeatedly for over a year, and during my visit on a Saturday afternoon, there were only a handful of customers. Based on her questions and attitude, I suspect they're looking for a high school or college student willing to work unpredictable hours for low pay, rather than someone with more experience who might seek advancement or leave. The only other office role is Office Manager, which she's held for years, implying no internal growth opportunities unless transferring locations.
