First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ron Marhofer Auto Group.
Sales Representative
Got a call back pretty quick after applying, then had a 30 min phone screening. After that, they sent over two online personality tests, which were kinda standard. A couple days later, I did an in-person interview with two sales managers. A lot of their questions came from those personality tests, wish I'd known that to do better on them. Was surprised neither manager knew the pay details when I asked. The recruiter called me with an offer later that day, she knew her stuff and explained the pay, training, and next steps. She also sent over a background check and drug test link, which were quick. Started just over a week after applying and I'm loving it so far.
- Can you share a recent decision you made that turned out well?
- Tell me about the best boss you've ever had.
- When were you last hesitant to try something new due to fear?
Receptionist
The interview process was quick, taking about 9 days. I applied on Indeed and HR reached out. After an initial phone chat with HR, I took a Wunderlic test and then met with a manager. I was fortunate the manager could see me on a Saturday, so I didn't have to take time off my old job. I heard back the next Tuesday and started the following Monday.
- HR and the manager both asked about my experience, particularly from my previous role as it was most applicable to this job.
Customer Service Representative
The hiring process started with a quick 15-20 minute chat with the tech department manager. Dress code wise, for guys, they prefer you to be clean shaven or have facial hair that's trimmed and defined – no scruff allowed. The meeting was pretty much a Q&A, and I got the job right after. A few days post-hire, I had a drug test. They're looking for people who can work hard, move fast, and always be polite to customers. Just a heads-up, this job means you'll be on your feet for about 10 hours a day, non-stop.
- Tell me about your manual labor background.
- Do you have prior experience working with customers?
- Describe your approach to dealing with challenging customer interactions.
Sales Consultant
I arrived 10 minutes early for my interview. After checking in, I waited in the waiting area for 40 minutes past my scheduled time. Just as I was about to leave, the manager came out to speak with me. The manager seemed unprepared; they didn't have questions ready, nor any paperwork like the job description or my resume. We were interrupted frequently, and the manager took emails during my responses. They also mentioned that the "non-commission" role was actually commission-based and spoke negatively about current customers to an employee within my hearing. The entire experience felt unprofessional from the start. Despite this, I was offered the position. When I declined, they asked why, and I explained my reasons. I thanked them for the opportunity and ended the call. For several weeks afterward, I continued to receive emails about completing a background check and setting up my new hire packet. About a month post-interview, I even got an email stating my orientation was scheduled for the following Monday. I eventually had to block their emails to make them stop.
- Are you willing to put in the effort?
