& Process

I had a single call with the hiring manager, which was set up through the career fair. We discussed my academic background, systems engineering concepts, and some fundamental software engineering topics. Afterwards, the hiring manager went into detail about the team and the technologies they use.

I had a phone interview first where I talked about the technical stuff on my resume and past jobs. I talked to two different teams on the phone, and they both did the same thing. After a week, they flew me out for an in-person interview. I got there at 9 am, saw the building, and then at 10 am, I had a two-hour interview that was mostly non-technical questions. It was a panel interview with 5 people. They took me to lunch, and then I had another interview with the second team, which was set up the same way. About two weeks later, I got a phone offer for the first job. I didn't hear back about the second job until almost a month later, by email, saying the position was canceled.

Started with a chat at the university career fair, handed over my resume and talked to someone for about 15 minutes. Got a call that same evening around 8pm to set up an interview for the next day. The next day, the interviewer wasn't the same person from the day before. They had like 4 or 5 interviews happening at once in a big room, which was more than other places I went to. After that, I got an invite for an onsite interview, and they covered hotel, flight, and rental car. The onsite itself was pretty intense for me – 4 interviews for 4 different positions, each about an hour and 45 minutes, so around 7 hours total, though some were a bit shorter. About a week later, I got an offer, pending a background and drug test. They didn't ask many technical questions; it was mostly about how you communicate, work with others, and how you'd approach evaluating systems-related stuff.
