Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rockwell Automation.
Application Engineer
It was a really technical interview, focusing a lot on MCCs. I had an interview panel with 3 people. They asked questions that were technical and also some specific questions on soft skills. The interview lasted between 40 minutes and 1 hour.
- Tell me about UL and international electric codes.
- Focusing on electrical controls, what can you tell me?
Field Service Engineer
I learned about RA from someone I knew there who thought I would be a good fit. I applied online through the University Connection portal and was put in touch with the engineering manager for an initial interview. Based on that recommendation, I was invited to Milwaukee, WI for the Rockwell Round Robin Interviews. The first day included info sessions, an "Engineering Olympics" with team challenges, and a dinner reception. The second day had a round robin interview format with four interviews back-to-back over three hours.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with your manager? What specifically about their actions did you dislike, and what was your reaction?
Field Engineer
The interview process kicked off with a phone conversation. Initially, I was asked what I knew about the company. The interviewer then reviewed my resume and asked straightforward questions about my past roles and my interest in the position.
- Can you tell me what you know about our company?
- What were your experiences working with your past employers?
- Tell me about a challenging situation you faced and how you managed it.
