The interview process was shockingly unprofessional. I had a phone interview, and at the end of it, they said I would be contacted soon about setting up an in-person interview. They never got back to me, and my follow-up email and voicemail were ignored. I'm assuming they went with another candidate, which is fine, but it's basic courtesy to respond to applicants. It was very unimpressive and disappointing, especially since I had great experiences as a student at Rockhurst.

I had a phone interview and then they called the same day asking me to come in for an in-person interview the next week. The in-person went well, and they said I'd hear back later that week. A few days later, they emailed to let me know they were calling my references, which the director told me they only do for their top candidates. They called two out of three references, and I really thought I'd get the job offer any day. Then all of a sudden, nothing. They didn't respond to my emails or calls checking in. I saw on LinkedIn that the director hired his friend and didn't even send a courtesy email saying they went with someone else, even though I specifically asked if they'd let me know either way and they said yes. It was a completely unprofessional way to treat someone and not close the loop with the candidate after strongly implying I'd get the job or at least get a follow-up. I'm appalled by the rudeness of not even responding to my messages to politely tell me they went in another direction. That's not how a professional organization should operate.

I had a phone interview first, then an on-campus interview. The whole thing took quite a while, from November to January. The phone interview was pretty standard for an academic job. For the on-campus part, I just had to do a teaching presentation that was 50 minutes long. It was a good school, but if you're applying through the College of Arts and Sciences, be ready to talk for the full 45 minutes because they expect a lot of questions from you.
