It was pretty simple, just a phone screening and then a Zoom interview with someone on your team and your manager/leader. It was all behavioral with typical "tell me about yourself" type questions. Make sure to look up some of the company "isms" beforehand if you really want to seem prepared.

I went through a 30-minute interview where I presented my design work. It started with me going over my portfolio, highlighting key projects that showed my research process, design thinking, and the results I achieved. I wanted to show how I solve problems and the impact my work had. After my presentation, they asked me questions about the projects I shared. The questions were mostly about the design choices I made, my team role, and the results. For instance, they asked about balancing user needs and business goals in a project and working with engineers. I liked these questions because they let me explain my thinking and how I handle design problems. But honestly, I was a bit let down. I was expecting deeper questions or a more thorough discussion about design strategy, user research, or project challenges. Since the job is about design strategy and research, I hoped for questions that would let me really get into those areas. I wanted to talk about finding user needs, turning research into design, and measuring success. I know 30 minutes isn't much time, but I still hoped for more focus on that. Still, I'm glad I could share my work and I'm still interested in the role. Hopefully, if I get to the next round, there'll be more time for deeper talks on design strategy and research.
