First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rocket.
Administrative Assistant
I got a call from a recruiter who asked if I could do a 15-20 minute interview right then. I was about to leave for an on-site interview, but to show I could be flexible, I said yes. This is different from other interviews I've had recently, which were scheduled online. The recruiter asked some behavioral questions, including one about a shortcoming in my last job. When my answer wasn't good enough, she asked, "Are you able to provide a specific example or not?" Her tone was very unprofessional. Quicken Loans should make sure their recruiters have good phone manners because they're the first point of contact.
- Could you give an example of a weakness you had in your previous role?
Administrative Assistant
The HR Manager did my phone interview. They asked standard formal interview questions that seemed designed to test if I was prepared with scripted answers for common open-ended questions. Questions ranged from why I was interested in the company to what my biggest weakness is, according to my last supervisor. After each answer, there was just silence until I let them know I was done. I'd prefer a more back-and-forth conversation over this type of performance-based interview.
- Could you explain why you feel you would be a good match for our company?
Executive Assistant
I had a phone interview. The screener asked about my salary expectations and past jobs. It was about 20 minutes. She said she'd talk to her hiring manager and call me back in 2 days about the next steps. They did call back in 2 days and said they were already in the process of hiring someone.
- Describe a work problem and its solution.
