First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rocket (CA).
Technical Recruiter
It was 3 rounds total. First was a quick chat with the hiring manager. Then I met with the team manager. The final round was meeting two other managers from different teams. They make decisions fast if everything looks good. There wasn't much room for negotiation.
- How would your customer service experience be relevant to recruiting?
Recruiter
The interview was pretty chill but still professional. I talked to a bunch of recruiters and some managers. They were all really nice and knew their stuff. In total, I had 5 interviews with people at different levels, and then I got an offer call from the director.
- What makes you want to join Rocket?
Data Scientist
The recruiter from Randstad was dodgy. He reached out saying "Exciting Data Scientist opportunity at BigDataFed!" but both him and the client were boring. Rocket is on their client payroll and doesn't have skin in the game. Rocket supplies candidates for free consulting. The recruiter uses a Google Voice number and never answers calls, calling back until the consulting is done. He'd also remind you about interviews. Worst interaction and humanity ever with a recruiting company.
- What are the usual HR questions?
Technical Recruiter
I had one interview back in 2019. I had a competing offer, so I only did the one interview and they extended an offer. I spoke with a few leaders, and the questions were pretty standard, like asking why I got into recruiting and how I deal with rejection.
- Why did you choose recruiting?
- Can you describe your approach to handling rejections?
