& Process

We did three interviews. The first was with HR, the second was with the director's right-hand person for the digital department, and the last one was with the director themselves. Be ready to ask your own questions and talk about the value you bring to the team in a persuasive and engaging way. The whole process was good and straightforward.

The process started with a written assignment, 11 short answer questions, which felt like a way to weed out people not willing to do extra work upfront. These answers were never brought up in the later interviews. The first two interviews were good, with the hiring managers who seemed passionate and genuine, making me feel like I could fit in. One manager said you need a "dangerous personality" to succeed there, which felt a bit awkward but the overall vibe was positive. After the second interview, getting the process moving again was difficult. I had to chase HR multiple times. A week later, I had a same-day meeting with the Chief Digital Officer, David Wander. I rearranged my personal plans for it. During the interview, he took a personal call, turned off his camera, and asked to reschedule for an hour later. When we resumed, he was late again. He had an intense energy but was direct and clear in his answers. I asked if anything in my background gave him concern, and he said no, mentioning I'd likely speak with one or two more people. That was the end of communication. I followed up three more times with HR but got no response or closure. It was a disappointing and disrespectful end to a process that initially showed promise, making me question how they manage their team.

Bizarre interview process. Started with a recruiter phone screener, then three interviews including the CMO. The CMO was very distracted, constantly on his phone, and even stepped out of the meeting. He described Roc Nation's culture as 'intense' and mentioned the company's push for a 5-day in-office week in summer 2020 despite COVID, and that he works 24/7, even on vacation. Multiple recruiters contacted me, and there was confusion about whether a presentation was required. The hiring manager was fired shortly after. It seems like a chaotic environment, so proceed with caution.

I was submitted via a recruiter and had an initial “culture screening” with HR to discuss the company. HR did most of the talking, trying to sell the company for benefits like free concert tickets, and mentioned their 5 day a week in office policy was completely inflexible. After reading the other reviews I took it with a grain of salt, feeling cautiously optimistic after our chat, and we confirmed a second interview time and date on the spot. Come that time and date, I realized I never received a link for a meeting invite, so I frantically contacted the company via their main phone. HR told me the next interview was now called off due to scheduling conflicts, and she would contact me with more times for a second round. Completely wasted my time and left me high and dry, feeling like I got played and they did not respect me enough to contact me prior to the interview to let me know they had to reschedule.
