Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Robert A.M. Stern Architects.
Designer
I had a really good interview experience right after graduating. The team made the conversation feel relaxed and easy to talk to, which helped me feel less nervous. I especially liked that they asked really specific and direct questions about my design process, not just about what I can do. It felt like they cared about my ideas and what I could become, not just if I could do the tasks. The whole time, they were encouraging and nice.

Interviewed with two members of the studio over Zoom. They were very friendly and interested in what I could contribute to the team, and they are passionate about what they do on a day-to-day basis.

Had an interview with a senior associate. They went over my portfolio and I gave an explanation. We also had a bigger talk about my interests in architecture and what kinds of projects I like. They also told me to come prepared with my own questions.
