So I had an initial screen call with the recruiter, where they talked about the job and gave me the company rundown. Then, I interviewed with the hiring manager. It's super unsettling and honestly pretty scary when the hiring manager can look you in the eye and say you're moving on and even tell you who you'll meet next, only to hear something totally different from the recruiter after you follow up.

Had a basic phone screen interview that went pretty well, content wise. The call dropped a few times though, and we were able to reconnect each time and continue the call. Unfortunately, this seemed to hurt my chances as I was rejected. I’ve applied for the role a few times since and haven't gotten a response other than a confirmation email of application. After some looking into it, there were issues with the cell towers in my area which led to interruptions in service. It was out of my control.

It was a bit of a long process, but not too crazy and felt pretty true to the actual job. It started with a 30-minute recruiter chat, then an online coding test you had to score well on. After that, there was an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a peer panel talking about previous projects and tech stacks. Then another cross-functional peer panel focused on collaboration stuff. Finally, separate interviews with the CTO/COO about culture, the company, and goals. I thought it was pretty reasonable for entry to mid-level roles. No crazy leetcode or deep system design, which felt fair. You should be ready to talk about scalability, the tech on your resume, how you monitor production, your SDLC, testing, and give a general rundown of past projects.

I interviewed with the accounting manager and the chief accounting officer. The accounting manager led most of the interview, and they were quite pleasant and informative. The CAO was mostly silent until about 30 minutes in, then they became passive-aggressive and sarcastic when I asked questions about the role, and patronizing about my experience. Even the accounting manager seemed uncomfortable, which confirmed my suspicions. While I understood if I wasn't a fit, the disrespect from the CAO was unwarranted and made me reconsider any future opportunities with Roadie or UPS affiliates, as it felt like an introduction to their company culture.
