It was a committee interview, with about 5-6 staff/faculty members. They didn't seem very interested or engaged, more like they just wanted to get through the questions to check the boxes. The questions were supposed to be about the skills for the position, but they were completely different from what was advertised in the job description. For example, they asked about the software used for the job, and I was thrown into an assessment expecting me to know the software, even though my resume clearly lists my certifications.

Applied online through HR site, two months later received an email invitation to interview, selected date and time. The interview was conducted via zoom with six members on the interview committee; three assistant professors, one instructional department specialist, one employment placement coordinator, and one human resource generalist.

They were interviewing for one role but actually wanted someone for a different position, probably to work around the union contract. The real reason seemed to be to cover for an incompetent employee they had to keep due to a lawsuit, who apparently couldn't even check emails or use Excel. They were pretty deceptive about what they were really looking for, and the union didn't help.

It was really intense and nerve-wracking. It was a panel interview where everyone on the panel got to ask me questions. The questions were situational and at times very hard, requiring me to constantly answer what they asked.
