First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ritual.
Operations Analyst
This wasn't your typical interview. They didn't ask questions directly about my work experience and how it relates to the job. Instead, it was more about seeing how I could problem-solve and analyze a given issue. The interview was split into parts: about 1-2 hours of online tests, a 30-minute call with the senior ops manager, 30 minutes for problem-solving questions, 30 minutes for role-playing, and a final 30 minutes for a culture fit discussion.
- Estimate the annual ice coffee consumption.
- Describe a time you simplified a process in your department.
- Tell me about someone who inspires you and the reasons why.
Operations Analyst
I interviewed with Ritual 4 times and they checked my references. I was really excited about the opportunity, as I was in a job that I was sick of and was looking forward to join an exciting company. I was verbally offered the role by HR. On that call with HR, I asked them a question about the benefits since it was not discussed during the interview process. I was simply asking the question, not arguing the amount! We ended the call and was preparing to give my 2 weeks notice to my employer and was waiting to get an email with the job offer. The next day, I received a phone call from HR stating that they are moving forward with another candidate and there was NO offer. I asked the reason and was told "because I questioned the benefits package and that made me think you were not enthusiastic about the role". Needless to say, I was angry.
- Tell me about yourself and why you're interested in this role.
- How do you think you'd fit into our company culture?
People Operations Specialist
I had a phone interview and then met the whole team. It was a really positive experience; I enjoyed the open discussions about the role and the company with everyone I met. There were five people in total that I spoke with, and the interview included behavioral and situational questions, as well as a role-play exercise.
- Can you describe an HR initiative you developed and managed on your own?
