The interview process was straightforward and scheduling was handled efficiently. After my interview with the hiring manager, I didn't receive any follow-up communication or status update. The role and internal team structure seemed to be evolving, giving the impression that the organization may not have fully fleshed out responsibilities or reporting lines yet.

A recruiter reached out to me directly. The first step was a recruiter call, then they sent my resume to the hiring manager. I had an introductory call where the recruiter said they move quickly, but my experience was the opposite. I had to chase them to see if the hiring manager wanted to interview me. They did, and it was a 90-minute session that involved going through my resume and a technical deep dive on Google Colab. I didn't hear back for several weeks and had to follow up multiple times. The recruiter then scheduled another call just to mention they were still interviewing and I was still being considered, but that the hiring manager was unclear on the specific data science skills they were looking for. After more weeks of no communication, I followed up again and was informed I wouldn't be moving to the final rounds. The interview itself wasn't particularly difficult; the main issues were the slow pace and poor communication, especially compared to the initial contact. Given recent reviews about layoffs, high turnover, and the recruiter's denial of layoffs, it might be for the best.

Behavioral Technical Coding Presentation

It started with a recruiter call, just basic stuff about me and why I want this job. Then I had a chat with the Data Science Director, who's the boss for this role. We talked tech skills, how I solve problems, and how I work with others. After that, I had to do a take-home project using Python, where I had to figure out a problem, crunch some numbers, and then show them my code and what I found. The last step was meeting with some execs for a talk all about behavioral stuff, to see if I'd fit in with the company culture and vision. It felt pretty comprehensive, like I got to show off my tech smarts, problem-solving, and people skills.

I had a quick intro call with TA/HR, then went through two rounds of video interviews. The TA staff member asked super basic questions, but I didn't think much of it for the screening call. I actually liked both interviews with the hiring manager and other leaders. They were all nice, reasonable, and likable. I really liked the company and it moved up on my list of places I wanted to interview. I probably would have taken an offer, but they totally ghosted me after the intro and 2 calls. I followed up about a week after they said I'd hear back, asking if they needed anything else. Never heard back.
