The interview process began with a standard recruiter call. The second round was quite intense, with tough questions designed to chip away at your confidence. They asked things like, “Tell me about negative feedback you’ve gotten from bosses,” and “Why did you leave your last job?” It felt like they were using manipulative tactics, similar to what you might see in some aggressive sales or dating advice circles. They mentioned their company culture is very intense, comparing it to Uber during its most notoriously toxic period. The remaining parts of the interview process were typical for Product Manager roles, including a loop of interviews and a take-home assignment. They did offer a good salary, but the thought of working with difficult colleagues and the strict return-to-office policy made it unappealing.

The interview process involved a recruiter screen, then a hiring manager interview, followed by a take-home assessment. After that, there was a department screen and a final interview with a senior director. They projected a 2-3 week turnaround. I thought the interviews were going well, but unfortunately, my laptop froze mid-interview and the hiring manager missed some of my responses. Bad luck, and the job market is super competitive right now, so no second chances.

I had a recruiter call with Rippling. Honestly, it was the worst recruiter call I've ever had. I thought my background was a really good fit for the job description, but the recruiter didn't care to hear about my experience. They were only focused on why I wanted to leave my current job, and they even ridiculed my reason for leaving. We never got to talk about my interest in the role or my experience. They were super cocky about their own company. It gave me a good sense of the culture, and even though it's a good product company, I don't think I'd ever want to work there.
