Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.
Researcher
I spent a day with some potential colleagues. I gave a one-hour presentation about my research, and there was a Q&A at the end. Later that evening, I had dinner with some of the colleagues, and they showed me around the city.
- Can you explain the societal importance of your work?
Postdoctoral Researcher
My interview experience in this field was nonexistent, as the management there actively tried to undermine my work and accomplishments. It was evident they hadn't reviewed my application materials, yet they proceeded to be unprofessional and impolite, even feigning expertise in unrelated fields. These were the most unprofessional and discourteous individuals I've encountered in my career so far.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
PhD Researcher
You'll first meet the professor, then you'll give a talk presenting your master research. This is also a chance to get to know your potential boss and colleagues, and for them to get to know you.
- What attracts you to our group?
- What are your research ideas moving forward?
- How would your current skillset contribute to the research conducted here?
