First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Richland County School District One.
Executive Director
So, it was a face-to-face meeting that lasted about 45 minutes for the first round. After that, there was a smaller interview with fewer people involved, and then finally, a phone call with the chief academic officer to wrap things up. It was all pretty standard stuff and happened within about a two-week timeframe.
- Could you start by telling us a little about yourself?
Suspension Supervisor
First, you need to complete an online application. Then, submit three references. You'll also need to provide useful documents like a cover letter and resume. Make sure you have your Education documentation ready (degree or transcripts). Interviews will be at the school you applied to, usually with the principal. If the principal chooses you, they'll send a recommendation to the school district office. The school district will call you about the hire date and salary if you accept.
- What's your strategy for dealing with an angry student?
Teacher
First, you gotta do the online application. Then, it's a smart move to hit up the yearly teacher job fair. That's where you can meet a bunch of principals and even some teachers from different schools. After that, if you get picked for an interview and they offer you a letter of intent, and you accept, they'll send your name to the school board for the final go-ahead.
- What's your approach to deciding what to teach your students?
Substitute Teacher
The interview was pretty chill, informative, and laid-back. The person interviewing me was really nice and professional. She clearly knew what the job entailed, and her questions showed it. The whole hiring process took a bit because there was a required workshop that people had to go to after getting hired, plus submitting all the documents online.
- When you get to a school for an assignment, what's one of the very first things you do?
