Richdale Apartments Interview Questions
& Process

I went to their Houston office for an initial interview, then went to one of their properties to meet the regional manager. Both times I waited over 30 minutes past the scheduled time, but the interviews went well. There was no follow-up for weeks. They called me back to the Westchase office two more times, not saying why either time. It wasn't an offer, they were asking about a different role (customer service, marketing writer) and asked for writing samples. It was disorganized with little structure, they were always late, and didn't follow up even though I emailed and the interviews seemed positive.

Had a few phone calls with the recruiter. Then I was asked to come in to talk more about the job. My throat was a little ticklish at the start, which was a bit distracting, but I did my best to answer. The questions seemed to focus only on how long I planned to stay. I explained that after working in Sales for years and having a bad experience with layoffs, I pursued a certificate as a nursing assistant to see if healthcare was a better fit. I mentioned I missed the sales side and was exploring healthcare after struggling in sales. I left feeling down because my sales and management experience wasn't discussed at all. I got an email a bit later saying I didn't get the job. I followed up and tried to get an interview with a hiring manager instead of the recruiter, but that was also denied. I know I'd be great for the company and the role, and they are missing out.

After applying online for an Accounting position, I called to follow up and was scheduled for an interview. The first interview was not with HR, but with the manager of the customer service department. She was a good interviewer and knew what she wanted. I'm not sure if they thought I was right for Accounting or if they just needed help in customer service. She asked if I had time for a second interview with the CEO, which was a bit intimidating but exciting. Then I had a third interview with one of the Owners. They asked me to come back for another interview with a different Owner who was out of town. By this point, I think they wanted to hire me but wanted to place me in a role they thought I'd like and that they needed to fill. I was okay with exploring my options. During this process, I was offered a job at Mutual of Omaha. I told my HR rep, and they assured me to continue with Richdale's process. I had the third interview with another Owner, which was also a bit intimidating but made me feel good about the company. Richdale seemed large, and it was impressive that the CEO and two Owners met with me. At Mutual of Omaha, I wouldn't have met anyone in such a high position.

The interview process was easy. I first spoke with a recruiter, and then I immediately went to the hiring manager. Everyone was pleasant, and the pay was definitely good. I declined the offer because I applied for a Property Manager position but was offered an Assistant Property Manager role. The company reviews were so bad that I was scared to start. After seeing I was offered a different position than I applied for and being told I would be at one building, possibly temporarily, the disorganization during the interview process was a red flag. I took another job with less pay because I just didn’t feel comfortable moving forward.
