Initially, I was told there would be three rounds: a screening, a hiring manager call, and a final panel. I liked the sound of that, especially with my current job. But that wasn't totally accurate. Rho seems to operate with the 'build the plane while flying it' mentality, and it showed. My contact person even switched up halfway through. On the day of my 'onsite,' I got a heads-up 30 minutes before it started that someone on the panel was sick. I get it, people get sick, but why not tell me that first thing in the morning, before I commuted? There was also active construction happening at the office. Even though my resume shows I've succeeded at startups before, one person asked if I was 'in the right stage of life' for a startup, implying they expect a lot of grinding with little time off. Then he plugged his YouTube series. After what I thought was the last interview, I found out there was another one. Then they dropped a case study on me with a three-day deadline, which was tough with work and moving. I know Rho is growing fast, but going from three rounds to five, and a few weeks to over a month, isn't a great first impression. I met some nice people, but it wasn't the right fit.

Got contacted on Linkedin, responded and they wanted to meet fast. Had an easy hiring screen and then immediately moved to the next round. The job listing was taken down, so I figured they had found candidates. Met with the director for a standard chat, though he was late. It went well, and I was invited to a panel round the next week. The panel round with 3 people for 1.5 hours also went well and they said I was a great fit. I sent a thank you note that afternoon, and the next morning the recruiter said she'd have an update by end of day. I never heard back after that. I followed up a few days later, but it's been over a week with no contact. It's frustrating how it ended after an otherwise good interview process. Still waiting for an update.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process had 3 parts for me. First, I talked to the internal recruiter virtually. Then, I had a virtual chat with the head of Revenue Development. Finally, I met in person with my future manager and the Chief Business Development Officer. Each person interviewed me differently, asking various questions that kept me thinking. The whole experience felt respectful and comfortable. Because it's a fintech startup, the vibe is energetic, enthusiastic, and welcoming, yet still professional.

The recruiter was super communicative for most of the interview process, always giving me updates after each interview, which was great. I got positive feedback after every round too. But once the final round was done, the recruiter just disappeared. After a few days with no word, I figured they were still talking to other people, but the lack of any update really made me less interested in the job. Two weeks after the last interview, I got a rejection email. It was super short and didn't give any reason, just that they were going with someone else. It felt really impersonal. Companies really need to do a better job of keeping candidates informed after they've finished all the interviews, especially when it takes so much of our time.
