The Rex Company's hiring journey starts with reviewing resumes, then a quick chat to see if you're still interested. After that, there's an in-person or online meeting where they'll check your experience, how you act, talk, and if you're available. Some jobs might have hands-on tests or personality assessments. Once everything's looked at, you'll hear back. If it's a yes, you move on to getting everything set up with paperwork, a medical check, and signing the contract.

I applied for a VP of Sales role that seemed like a great match for my experience in building sales teams and developing custom software. The first interviewer was great, giving a company overview, answering questions, and sharing insights into the company's roadmap. They followed up quickly, which got me really excited. The second interviewer, however, was terrible. They hadn't read my resume or LinkedIn and seemed uninterested in my experience, focusing instead on telling me how to improve my resume. When I discussed closing complex deals and managing teams, I was constantly interrupted, and it was clear they didn't understand my work. They ended by saying, 'we're not building widgets here, so I don't think you can do this job.' This is disappointing because I've structured and sold software deals for many Fortune 100 companies and managed teams building top-tier applications. It's unfortunate if a tech company employs HR people who are uninterested or lack technical understanding. I felt I was a strong candidate, and speaking with a prepared interviewer might have led to a different outcome.

The interview process started with a recruiter call, followed by a series of video conference interviews. Overall, it was a positive experience. The idea is great and the founding team seems like they will be able to execute on the concept, however, middle management does not appear like they are going to be up to the challenge. I hope the company succeeds but I seriously question the ability of the middle management. Despite believing in the concept and the founders, I was planning on rejecting the position (If an offer was made) due to the lack of confidence in the existing middle management.

I had two video interviews via zoom and then one in-person meeting where I spoke with different team members. They mentioned wanting people with licenses, which I have, but then multiple interviewers questioned if I'd get bored in the role, as if I didn't understand the job I applied for. Maybe I was overqualified? I never found out because after the final interview, they went completely silent and I never got a response, not even a rejection email. Looking at their Google reviews, it seems common for them to lack communication and have employees who don't know about real estate, which makes sense now.
