It was a super quick interview process, and everyone I talked to was really professional. HR and the Head of Design were both really nice and open about what the job was and how the process would go. They even gave me some good tips on how I could make my portfolio and my product designer skills better.

So, the interview started with a quick chat with the recruiter. After that, I had to do a take-home design challenge. I had to whip up a product design deliverable in Figma. Once I sent it in, the next part was presenting my home task to the team, and then there was a live whiteboard exercise. It took a good chunk of time, especially the home task. They stopped giving feedback if you didn't pass a certain stage. Also, it would've been nice to have clearer communication about timelines and what they were looking for.

  • Could you present your take-home design and discuss the rationale behind your choices?
  • What compromises did you have to make during the design process?
  • If you had additional time, what enhancements would you make to your design?

I went through a few stages: first a recruiter chat, then a design task I had to do at home, and finally a design skills interview. I got rejected after the skills interview. The design task was supposed to be done in three days, which was kind of a lot for me to handle while I was still in classes. I'm not sure if the task really impacted the next step, but the design skills interview happened after that. It was a 45-minute deep dive, kind of like a presentation where I had to talk about one experience and how I approached it in detail.
