Sales Manager
I considered skipping this interview, but my curiosity got the better of me. The initial phone call felt pretty standard. I was scheduled to meet with the VP of Sales about 4 weeks later. Given the holiday season with Christmas and New Year's, I understand potential delays, but the lack of apparent urgency or effort to schedule the meeting was noticeable. By the time I was set to meet the hiring manager, I had already received several other offers. The conversation itself was very robotic. It's also a bit of a turn-off when the hiring manager doesn't introduce their own background first. The questions seemed more suited for a Tech Sales role, which felt out of touch considering this industry. I felt like I was asked the same thing multiple times in different ways, and the hiring manager made no real effort to learn about me beyond what was on my resume. When I inquired about feedback and the next steps, the response was vague, suggesting to me a tendency to avoid direct answers. This experience made me understand why the person previously in this role only stayed for 8 months. I'm glad I accepted a better opportunity elsewhere before going further with this.

Corporate Position
I had a phone screen with the recruiter. It felt very impersonal and not friendly. The recruiter was like a robot, just asking questions from a list and not really interested in what I had to say. She was short with me and didn't ask any follow-up questions. When I asked about the job or the company, she gave short, dismissive answers, making me feel like I didn't matter.
- She asked for the names of specific processes.
- She asked for the names of specific methodologies, like a surprise quiz.
Manager
It was decent. I met with two executive leaders individually on the first visit. I was called back for a second interview with another executive. A final meeting was set up at an offsite location and an offer was made. Meeting with several individuals was common practice at this company and I felt a relatively relaxed style during the process. It felt like a decent place to work based on the way the interviews were conducted. There was a personal touch.
- Can you start by telling me a little bit about yourself?
Culture Diversity and Inclusion Partner
The interview process started out well, but then got weird during the final interview with the CEO. It began with a recruiter chat, then an interview with the CPO. After that, I had same-day interviews with the HR Director and the Dir. of Supply Chain. The next day, I had interviews with the CEO and General Counsel, plus a Hogan Assessment. The first three rounds were nice, and the interviewers seemed interested. But the CEO interview was super disappointing. The recruiter said it would be about building and executing project plans for diverse leadership, ERGs, and diversity metrics, so I prepped for that. Right away, the CEO seemed uninterested, like he'd already decided based on my looks. He didn't introduce himself or the company, just jumped into basic questions like 'What do you know about us?' and 'What do you want to be when you grow up?'. He asked for a summary of my experience, but cut me off mid-way to ask about a specific program, then moved on without hearing the rest. He asked 'What's your superpower?' and if I had questions. He ended the 30-minute interview with 7 minutes left, saying he had enough from my resume and I'd hear back. He didn't ask any questions about the role's focus or my experience. After the interview, the recruiter called and canceled the next interview and the Hogan assessment, saying the CEO was eliminating me because I didn't provide relevant examples for the role's focus. I told the recruiter he didn't ask any relevant questions, but she just said 'he's the CEO'. It felt like he made up his mind the second I turned on my camera. They canceled everything, even though the next interviews and assessment were already confirmed. It's disappointing, especially for a DEI role, and felt very exclusive and unwelcoming.
