Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Restaurant Depot.
Assistant Manager
I went through 3 interviews total. First up was a chat with a 3rd party recruiter, which I felt went great. Then, I interviewed with the VP out in New York. The last one was with the regional manager based in Ohio. I thought I nailed all three, and the recruiter was super positive I'd get an offer, but then... nothing. No call, no offer, no reply back from the recruiter at all. Super weird.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your experience?
Assistant Manager
I had a great interview, coming from a totally different management position.
- Are you okay with working after hours, understanding that if closing time is 6 PM, you might not leave until 7-7:30 PM?
- Would you be willing to work extra shifts, like 6 days instead of 5, when needed, given that you would be compensated for the additional day?
Management Trainee
I got referred by a friend for what I thought was an Assistant Buyer job at the College Point HQ. My first interview was with a really nice woman who suggested a Management Training Program in-store for 3-6 months before moving to corporate. I agreed and had a second interview with a stern Head Buyer, which also went well. After not hearing back for a while, a store manager called about a month later, saying the first interviewer had sent my resume over and he wanted to meet. This manager was nice but clueless about the role, my department, salary, or anything else, showing a big disconnect between corporate and store management. Despite this, the store manager was keen to offer me the job, pending corporate approval. I never heard back, even after emailing about my application status. This management training program seems non-existent, as my friend knew nothing about it, and there was no online info. It was discouraging to go through months of interviews and then get ghosted.
- Can you share what you know about the company?
- Could you elaborate on your past work experiences?
