Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Resilience (CA).
Scientist
I had 3 interviews in total. The first was a phone call with HR, which went well. Then, I had an online meeting with the hiring manager. Following that, I was invited for an onsite interview which lasted 4.5 hours and included a one-hour presentation. It was a nice experience, though tiring. They didn't ask many technical questions because most of it was covered in the presentation. I had to email a couple of times to figure out how to submit my slides. They told me it would be a 30-minute presentation, but the interview slot was an hour long, so luckily I had enough material. The people were nice, but it was exhausting to be there for so long. They never got back to me, which was disappointing after I spent so much personal time interviewing. It made me reconsider the company.
- What is your understanding of our company and what makes you a suitable candidate?
- Could you explain your process for verifying the quality of an NGS run?
Senior Scientist
Applied for a job and heard back a month later. Had a great first interview with the hiring manager and recruiter. Then, I was told the job was on hold for budget and staffing analysis. A few weeks later, it was approved and back on. I went through 8 interview rounds and they all seemed to think I had the job. But, a month later, still no offer. They are still deciding on budget and hiring plans because they are worried about a recession in 2023. Don't waste your time here.

Scientist
I had a 4-hour Zoom interview where I met with multiple people. I wished it was in person, as the job talk and one-on-one meetings are better in person, plus you get to see the workspace. Despite the format, everyone was super nice, and I think I would be happy working there.
- Tell me about your greatest strength and weakness.
