The interview process was easy. The GM and Front Desk Supervisor asked basic questions about my experience related to the position. They gave me a full tour of the hotel. They also asked about my basic customer service skills and how well I work under pressure.

I applied online through Marriott's career website for a Housekeeping position at Residence INN in Dulles, Sterling, VA. The very next day, I received a call about an immediate interview. I accepted the interview for the day after, even though I had previously stated my unavailability for weekends and evenings. Despite knowing my availability constraints, the assistant manager interviewed me and then informed me that due to my weekend unavailability, they couldn't extend an offer. I found this to be disrespectful, as they wasted my time knowing this information from the start. The manager, possibly named G, seemed to be exercising authority unnecessarily. I advise against wasting people's time unless compensation is offered.

I was interviewed by 3 different people on 2 separate occasions and wasn't sure how to receive that. Anyhow, I was hired for the position, but lost it after the front desk manager spoke with my previous supervisor at the Hilton. No explanation was given as to why they hired me, then changed their minds.

Behavioral Other

The interview process had three parts. First, a phone interview. Then, an in-person interview with the director of sales, and finally, an interview with the GM. The in-person part was in the hotel lobby, pretty casual but still had formal questions. The GM interview was a bit strange; she asked a lot of questions not really related to the job, like if I watched TedTalks.
