The interview process involved an initial phone screening, followed by an interview with the hiring manager, and then another interview with the hiring manager's director. A panel interview was scheduled next, but I didn't advance to that stage. The entire experience spanned over a month, despite only completing three interviews. Be prepared for a lengthy process, likely with 4-6 interviews in total, and expect to proactively request updates at each step as they won't be provided proactively. While the staff seemed pleasant, they showed a disregard for candidates' time and job search timelines.

Behavioral Technical

I applied online and heard back from a recruiter within a few days to schedule a phone call about my background and projects. A few days later, I had a Google Voice meeting with a lead dev where we discussed things like DEP and buffer overflows. The recruiter said I did well for someone fresh out of university. The next day, the recruiter emailed me about the typical entry-level paradox: needing experience to get experience. They then said that the company's mentorship page must just be for show, and that they wouldn't invite me to a full panel interview if they didn't think I was capable of succeeding.

The interview process at Research Innovations was notably unprofessional for the DoD/contracting sector. Scheduling issues caused significant delays and wasted time. After weeks of work, candidates faced interviews with almost ten people, and two interviewers didn't even show up. This process was a complete waste of time and showed a lack of respect for applicants. Even after this long process, finalists were informed they might be considered for future openings, but the same job was relisted quickly with easier qualifications and less pay. This approach erodes trust in the company's values and shows little respect for candidates' time and effort. It highlights a lack of candidate respect and weak leadership accountability. I strongly advise seeking employment elsewhere and caution others about their interview process.

The interview process, from the initial recruiter contact all the way to the final meeting with the operations lead, was really clear. I didn't feel any pressure or get hit with any tricky questions. Honestly, I actually enjoyed the interviews, which is definitely not my usual experience with government contractors.
