First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Republic Services.
Operations Supervisor
I went through two separate interview sets for the same job, but at different locations. Both times the process was the same. First, I had an interview with the potential supervisor. We went over the job and my resume and they said a follow-up interview was needed. Then, I went in for the follow-up interview, which was the same process but with two managers at the job location. The first time, I never heard back and couldn't get any info. The second time, I followed up and they told me the job went to someone else.

Operations Supervisor
The interview process included a phone screen with HR, followed by an on-site interview with the Operations Manager, and then a second phone interview with the area General Manager. It was a standard interview process overall, with a site visit included. The General Manager asked what year I graduated from college right at the start, to gauge my age. This made me uncomfortable and shifted the interview negatively. I was told I'd know my candidacy status within 24 hours, but I didn't hear back until an automated rejection email arrived a week later. It felt sad, unprofessional, and ageist, particularly after being told I was a top candidate.
- Can you tell me the year you graduated from college?
Operations Supervisor
The hiring process can range between 3-5 interviews and took about 6 weeks. Republic Services really tries to hire the right talent. The steps are: first a phone screen, then an in-person interview, and then about four phone interviews. The competitive job offer was worth the wait.
