Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Republic Services.
Business Transformation Manager
It was a smooth process, with good interaction all the way through. There were 3 interviews in total. I first spoke with a recruiter, then did a panel interview, and my final interview was with the VP. I received a very good offer, but had to decline it because my situation at my current job changed.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience with OTC applications?
Management
I had one phone interview and then 3 video interviews. Everything was going well until the end, when the last person I spoke with seemed uninterested. I asked the TA Partner for manager contacts to say thanks, and their response was curt and a bit rude. After dedicating almost 4 hours and 4 interviews to their process, I waited over a week for a decision. The call to inform me of my rejection was abrupt, without any pleasantries like thanking me for my time. It was just a quick, 'they went with someone else.' Given my decade of experience in talent acquisition, I always take the time for a polite conversation, express gratitude for their time, and offer general feedback on why we chose a different candidate after 4 interviews. They could certainly be more courteous when communicating with candidates, especially after 4 interviews.
- Can you describe how you lead?
- Can you share an instance where you worked with others to overcome an issue?
Management Trainee
The process kicked off with a brief chat with HR, then there were two more rounds of interviews over Zoom. The interviewers were pretty nice; the first interview focused on company values, and the second one was quick and more about explaining the role itself.
- What makes you want to join Republic Services?
