Sales Manager
After filling out an application and waiting with other candidates, I had a brief 10-minute interview. Typically, if you do well, they invite you back for a second, more in-depth interview. Although I'm not a business major, I was drawn to this role because it was presented as a management position with the potential for significant earnings. However, it turned out to be a sales role with subsequent management training. I sensed they weren't fully disclosing all the details. While the staff were very friendly, I got the impression that they were holding back information. If you're a business major looking to enter the field, this company might be worth considering. Otherwise, it's good practice for interviews, and then you can move on.
- What qualities do you seek in a company?
- Could you describe your responsibilities in your current position?
Sales Representative
This role has 3 interview rounds. The first one is a phone call. The second is a meeting with a manager to go over the job and get to know you a bit. The third interview, lasting about 45 minutes, involves either going somewhere in the office or out for coffee. Depending on whether you're with RCG (doing door-to-door sales for CenturyLink) or their partner Redmark (doing B2B sales for Ooma), the sales environment differs. The team seems great and they aim for a fun, dynamic workplace. Just a heads up, it's commission-only with no base salary or benefits initially. You won't get gas reimbursement either. Base pay or benefits are only possible after a promotion, which takes about 1-1.5 years, and they promote from within.
- If you could meet anyone, living or deceased, who would it be?
Account Executive
This was a three part interview. First round, you sit down with a member of the management team and they will ask you a few basic question. This is the only real screening that goes on. Additionally there are actually two companies co-operating in this office and who ever interviews you will determine which payroll you go on. Second Round, you are paired up with on of the leaders in the office from your side. This will be someone who met their sales requirement the previous week. Third Round, as long as the leader who did your second round thinks that they can work with you then when you go into the third round you are likely to be offered a position as long as you are enthusiastic.
- Rank these three things in order of importance: Compensation and Benefits, Opportunity for Advancement, and Work Environment
Account Manager
Had a 15 minute intro chat about the company and project. Then a longer interview for about an hour with the potential hiring manager and someone else who was just there. We met at a Starbucks, and they asked me about leadership experiences and went into more detail about the role. The next day, I got a call for a third round with a senior manager that was scheduled within two days. This was basically another deep dive into the job, plus questions about my motivations and career goals. He also explained the team structure and growth paths. I was told to bring some documents for the signup process during this third meeting.
- Could you rank the following in order of importance to you: work environment, compensation, and growth opportunities?
- What are your travel preferences?
