Senior Software Engineer
The interview process typically involves an initial screening with the hiring manager, followed by three technical interviews, and then another screening with the hiring manager. Overall, it was acceptable, aside from the interactions with the hiring manager. During the first meeting with him, he was late and appeared not to have reviewed my resume, as he had to read it as the meeting began. In the second meeting, he asked the exact same questions from about a week prior. He seemed disengaged and asked very specific questions about solving their particular technical issues, making me question if the job listing was genuine, especially considering its age. In both instances, his communication of the questions was poor, and I was frustrated by the apparent lack of understanding of my responses.
- Can you share an instance from your past where you encountered a specific, uncommon situation?
- Describe a time when you had to deal with a specific problem or challenge.

It started with a phone screening, then a 60-minute timed Canditech assessment. Each part of the test had a time limit, and you couldn't go back. No practice was available. The first step showed one question, which I finished fast. I spent too much time checking, thinking I missed something due to the extra time. Turns out, more questions were below, which I only saw when looking for the submit button near the end. Not enough time to answer them well.
- Questions about SQL
- Questions specific to Python, like generators and sequences
Software Engineer
I got a recruiting email but missed it. Then I was offered a technical interview which was a leet code problem plus two values-based questions at the end. Two people from Remitly watched me code. One person left early. No values questions were asked. I was told feedback would be sent soon, but it's been about two months and I haven't heard anything, not even a rejection. My application status hasn't changed on their job board. They talk a big game about values but don't follow through. They didn't deliver on promises, sweat the details, have a bias for action, continually improve, or be constructively direct. They didn't earn my trust.
