Product Designer
I interviewed with Remitly (previously Rewired). It was a really bad job search experience, quite unprofessional and unethical. It started with a Zoom interview with the VP of Product, no prior recruiter call. The VP mentioned it was unusual and due to the design lead being on maternity leave. Then, I was given a big home assignment to design a whole mobile app, needing product thinking, UX wireframes, and UI. I had a week for it and put in a lot of effort. After submitting, I only got a confirmation after two days, and then heard nothing for over a week. When I followed up, they took a few days to reply, saying they weren't moving forward, with no feedback on my assignment or who even reviewed it. It made me realize we designers can't do unpaid assignments without at least a follow-up meeting to present our work and get feedback. It's also crucial not to do these big assignments so early, before knowing if the management, company, culture, role, and pay are a good fit. Companies need more ethical interview processes.

Product Designer
Started with a quick recruiter chat, basically just to get past that to the hiring manager for an hour. Then, it was a full hour panel review of my portfolio, followed by three back-to-back interviews with team members. I really wish there were breaks between interviews, would have saved everyone time if they decided to move me on. They asked to see my personal files without any warning, and I was asked to give feedback on their product, which felt like a free consult.
- Can you show me some of your process files?
- What is your feedback on our current product?
Product Designer
There were 4 rounds in total for the interview. I missed the final round but the experience was truly memorable. All the interviewers were really nice and the discussions were very insightful.
- How would you describe your approach to design work?
