Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Remitly.

I spoke with the recruiter first, then had a video chat with the hiring manager. After that, I had another video call with the hiring manager. She asked things like 'Tell me about a time when you...' and then towards the end, she let me know I wasn't a good fit and canceled the upcoming interviews with other people. I guess my answers weren't what she was looking for.
- Can you share an example of a time when you...

The interview process started with an initial phone screen. Then there was a second round with a product team member, which included case studies and behavioral questions. This was followed by a 7-hour on-site interview in Seattle. The interviewers were really well-prepared and knew what they were looking for. I liked that Remitly lets you engage with the product/work during the interview, giving you a feel for the job. Everyone was nice and patiently answered my questions, making it feel more like a conversation. People are open and transparent. It seems everyone at the firm has a strong sense of purpose and they're looking for the right fit, not just an employee. The on-site is longer than at companies like AMZN and MSFT, but it's not meant to be intimidating. It can be a bit draining, but I get why they do it to find the best fit. Overall, a very professional and intelligent workforce!
- Could you share some of your work experiences with data?
- Tell me about a product you really like, and be ready for deep follow-up questions.
- What are your thoughts on product-related case questions for this company?
Analyst
I had a chat with the Director. He started by telling me about the Company, the team, and the job. Then I shared my background and why I felt I was a good fit. We wrapped up with time for me to ask questions. He was a really nice person. I thought it went well, but I didn't get the job. I really like the Company's mission though. I hope they find the right person.
- How do you ensure a vendor supplying personal data is accurate and reliable?
