So this was probably the worst interview experience I've had. It was supposed to start with a phone screen, but that part got skipped for me. Then I had to do a code challenge, which I got on a Friday and finished over the weekend. After that was the in-person interview. First, I met with some developers, and then the CTO. The developers gave me a couple of exercises that were pretty tough but fair: one was a math/physics problem-solving task, and the other was about React lifecycles. After those, we talked about my background, and then I had my Q&A. Then I talked to the CTO about the company and any questions I had. My main problem was with the in-person part. I found out I was supposed to have had a phone screen with the recruiter first, and I came in unprepared for technical questions that were meant for that initial screen. The worst part was the CTO was too busy to finish our second meeting and said he'd call me later. I was given a time he'd call, and I made myself available after work, but he never called or even sent an email saying he was busy. I was left completely in the dark, which was super unprofessional. A quick email saying he needed to reschedule would have been the minimum. I eventually got an email on Monday saying he was busy, which could have been sent during the scheduled call time. When we finally did talk, he kept bringing up the phone screen that never happened. I asked the recruiter if we were supposed to have one, and she confirmed it got overlooked. I was really disappointed. Then it took ages to get feedback. I had to ask another employee, and only then did I get the rejection email from the recruiter, almost like they forgot to send it. Even with a rejection, getting feedback on time would have softened the blow. It seems like their recruitment process needs some serious organization improvement. Overall, positives were enjoying the code challenge and the in-person challenges, and the environment seemed nice. Negatives included the messed-up interview sequence (skipping the phone screen), the CTO no-showing for our call and not communicating, and the super delayed feedback. To fix this, they should try to be more professional, organized, and respectful of candidates' time. They need to communicate issues promptly and send feedback much faster.

So I first chatted with a recruiter at Remine, and that went pretty well. Then I had a phone screen with a lead dev. Honestly, he seemed unprepared and not super into the conversation. He was also really direct about expecting long work hours, which I guess is fine, but I thought he could've handled that better. After that talk, I wasn't interested in continuing the interview process, even if they offered me the next steps.

Behavioral Presentation

I first talked to a recruiter for a phone screen. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview with the hiring manager. It was pretty casual and used the STAR method. Then I had a second in-person interview, which was also really laid back. They wanted to see if I'd be a good fit for the team and if I was focused on hitting goals together. I got an offer pretty soon after the second interview.

Behavioral Presentation

The recruiting and head of people were very professional. It seemed like it could be a great place to work, even if a bit disorganized, which is typical for a startup. The CEO was engaging and enthusiastic about their work. It didn't end up working out, but I think this company has a lot of potential.
