I went through a staffing service. We met as a group at the company. They put us in an office and told us about the company's history and what the job requires. Then the group went into individual interviews with the supervisors of each department.

I applied internally for this team lead position that was being vacated by my former team lead. The process to get an interview was simple, I just asked for it. The interview was with a supervisor and they read everything from a script. It was mostly behavioral questions like 'Name a time that you took initiative on the job' and 'How could the team be improved'. I was told that I didn't get the position because I didn't show interest in advancement prior to applying for the job.
