Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Relativity Space.
Engineer
We had three phone screens where I spoke with the recruiter, the hiring manager, and a technical engineer. These were to check basic skills, see if I was a culture fit, and assess technical alignment. Then there was an on-site interview, which might include a presentation and several in-person interviews.
- Can you discuss the trade-offs involved in implementing a specific design paradigm?
Lead Engineer
I filled out an online application and sent over my resume and some of my past work. Then, there were a few quick phone calls to see if I was a good fit. It took a little while to get things moving with interviews, maybe a few weeks.
- Can you give a presentation about yourself, discussing your previous technical responsibilities?
- The panel will ask you some questions on the spot.
Engineer
Had an initial chat with a recruiter who was really enthusiastic about my skills and mentioned I could be a fit for several roles since they were hiring people without space experience. He said he'd apply me to all the relevant openings. Then, I had a call with a manager. Right after that call, I got an email saying I wasn't moving forward. It seemed like the manager was actually looking for someone with space experience, based on what they asked. The recruiter seemed clueless and got my hopes up for a job I wasn't even considered for. Pretty disappointing.
- Can you walk me through your past work experience?
