The interview process was pretty straightforward but it did seem to drag on a bit between stages. I spoke with the HR Director who was really condescending and barely let me speak. He kept bragging about how the owners gave him free rein to make changes. The worst part was when he explicitly stated that he wouldn't hire an introvert for the role. Because he decided I was an introvert, I didn't get to move on. I sometimes get nervous and shy around new people, and I wish I'd had the chance to show my true self. It was clear he had biases and it would have been a terrible place to work, so I'm glad I avoided it.

This was an informational interview where we talked about what I'm interested in, my background, projects I've done, and any technical skills not on my resume. We also discussed the types of projects I'd be working on if I got the job.

I interviewed for a field service position. It was a 2-stage interview process with knowledge questions. I was told that they would cover some of my fuel expenses for the 400-mile round trip for a site visit for a more formal interview, but unfortunately, I was not successful. I was told my expenses would be paid for the travel in diesel, which was not the case. They told me a pack of lies, and a company of this size will not honor the cost of my fuel. Diesel is £2 a litre, which is £80 round trip. I would advise anyone thinking of working for this company to have a hard think about it.

First I had a phone call, then I went in for an in-person interview. The initial phone call was mostly to go over my background and talk about the job. The in-person part was about my experience and how it connects to the role.
