Staff Accountant
I had a pretty standard interview. I met with the controller, who's been there a long time, and the accounting manager, who's new. It seemed to go well. The controller was super nice and easy to talk to, so we chatted about other stuff a lot too. We talked about my current job and why I'm looking for something new. I thought it went great, we even looked at the calendar for potential start dates. About a week and a half later, I saw the job posting was gone. I asked my recruiter if they'd made a decision, and she said they decided to go with someone more analytical.

I applied online and then got a call back pretty quickly, like 30 minutes later. They set up a phone chat with HR to go over my resume and see what I was hoping for in a job. After that, the Sales Comps Manager wanted to talk, so we had an interview a week later. It felt pretty relaxed, like just getting to know each other. Later that same day, HR called again to schedule an interview with the VP of Operations for the following week. That was also a chill conversation about the job duties and if I thought I'd be a good fit. This all happened on a Wednesday, and then on Friday, they called with an offer. I was supposed to start two Mondays after that.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- What are your career aspirations?
- What skills and abilities do you possess for this role?
Market Researcher
Found the job on Monster.com. Got a call about 3 weeks later. HR said someone from HR would call the next day for a phone interview at 3 pm. At 3 pm, the Director of HR called and asked me about my previous jobs. It lasted about 15 minutes. She said she'd send my resume to the head of the department, and if he liked it, I'd get a second interview. About a week later, I got a call inviting me for a face-to-face interview in 2 days. I accepted and went. When I arrived, I was given an application to fill out. After I finished, I let them know, and the interview started. It was really relaxed, felt like catching up with a friend. He said they'd be in touch if they were interested and then walked me out. About a week later, the person who did the phone interview called and asked for 2 supervisor references. As soon as my references were contacted, she called and offered me the job, which I accepted!
- The telephone interview was more difficult than the face-to-face one. I'm not sure, but I think I was nervous the whole time.
Research Analyst
There were three interviews total, one over the phone and two in person. Some questions were asked, and they also gave information about the job. The interview was mostly to check if you're reasonably competent. You don't have to be into real estate, but you do need to be willing to work. The people who interviewed me were nice or at least seemed pretty chill. It felt more like a chat than a tough interview.
- Can you share an instance where you resolved an issue within a group setting?
