I sent in my resume at the end of August and got an interview scheduled for the next week. I met with the manager at a table in the mall. She asked about when I could work and why I was interested in the job. Then she told me about the salon and asked me to bring in a female and male model to show off my hair cutting abilities. On the day of the demonstration, the manager watched and evaluated my haircutting skills. Being able to work on weekends is a big deal! And you have to look the part too!

I applied online and got a call within a week to set up an interview. When I got there, I had to wait a bit. The interviewer, who was very nice, ended up doing the interview because the person who called me wasn't available. She hadn't seen my resume, so she asked me to talk about myself. I mentioned taking cosmetology in high school, which she focused on, asking why I never got licensed. I tried to explain it was just a hobby and I never wanted to be a professional cosmetologist. The interview was about 15 minutes long. She said she'd review my application and call me for a second interview, but I never heard back.

After getting referred by a friend and applying online, I had an interview with the district manager. We had a general chat, and then I was asked about my preferred location. Since I have 20 years of experience, I didn't have a technical interview. They explained the pay scale and the expected hourly service rate. We also discussed marketing expectations, as they want you to promote yourself. The hiring process involves a lot of paperwork, including providing your email for online forms and direct deposit information.

The interview process is like speaking to a friend, so don't be nervous! They ask about ten questions, probably more depending on your answers. Really easy to pass through the interview part, just sell yourself! Afterward comes an audition, prepare to be there about 6+ hours. They will ask you to demonstrate men's cut, women's: highlights, color, cut, blow dry, up do, makeup (optional), nails (optional).
