I had a screening with a recruiter and then met virtually with the hiring manager. Both were polite and pleasant. The interview was very average. The video interview took about 45 minutes.

I submitted my application on December 13th. A recruiter reached out via text on January 5th. I confirmed my interview on January 7th, and the interview was held on January 14th. I spoke with Ben Mavru, Sr. Manager of Social Services, and Tracee Laird, Director of Social Services. They were both professional and knew the role well. The interview was supposed to be 30 minutes but went closer to 45 minutes. We talked a lot about the difficulties of the job, specifically the demanding fieldwork and physical requirements. It was good they were upfront about the challenges, but the interview felt like it focused more on the tough parts of the job rather than the team's strengths or what kind of support is available from the organization.

  • On a scale of 1 to 10, how interested are you in this role, given that older social workers may become tired in this position and that younger professionals are often more successful due to the physical demands of driving and fieldwork?

Recruiter called me and it was already chaotic. Had a virtual interview where the supervisor seemed to get lost in their own questions. Then, I was referred to this role, and interviewed with the senior vice president who didn't even turn her camera on. It felt like she wasn't serious about hiring and just wanted intel on other companies, because she asked me to send sample work, and then I never heard back.

I started with the HR recruiter who reviewed my background and explained the role. Then, the recruiter spoke with the controller about me, and they seemed interested. I then met the controller, discussed my experience, and learned more about the job. They asked me to do some tasks in Crystal and Access to check my skills. I did okay, and they invited me for another interview. The next interview involved the CFO and some future colleagues. After the controller got feedback from the CFO and the team, they decided to hire me and made an offer.
