HSE Officer
This was one of the most annoying and boring interviews I've had. The questions were the same over and over, didn't really tell me anything about the job, and the whole thing felt like a waste of my time. The interviewers didn't seem very into it either, which made it even more depressing and pointless.
- Could you describe your prior work history?
- What do you consider your main strengths and weaknesses?
- What makes you interested in this particular role?
General Labourer
So the hiring process involves a few steps. Mostly interviews, sometimes its just you and the interviewer, sometimes a group of people, sometimes a panel of interviewers. They can be done in person, over the phone, through email, or video calls.
- Can you describe the best way to
Laboratory Technician
The interview was a behavioral one, focusing on how I work rather than technical skills. There were three interviewers: a senior manager, a middle manager, and an HR rep. They asked very direct follow-up questions that felt too personal, and I was uncomfortable afterward, surprised to get an offer. I had another job at the time and was clear about my availability, telling the HR rep multiple times. Despite this, I received a call for an interview on my day off, with the interview scheduled for a workday. I had to change my shift and told the HR rep I could only stay for an hour, but they kept me until 11:30, making me 30 minutes late for work. I had also stated my minimum pay requirement was $20/hr, with no pushback. The offer call from the HR manager felt like they were downplaying my qualifications and offered $16.35/hr, despite my requirements and it being a second shift position. I felt my time was wasted, and my references were bothered. They also talked a lot about overtime and working until the job is done, sometimes 7 days a week, which was a big red flag. It didn't seem like a good place to work.
- Tell me about a time you took initiative at work and what the outcome was.
- Describe a situation where you had a difficult coworker. How did you manage it, and what was the result?
- What happened when a manager yelled at you?
Machine Operator
I spoke with the Senior HR, Packaging Supervisor, and an HR assistant. They asked me about handling difficult employees, how I'd use previous experience in this role, and if I was a team player. I also discussed my salary expectations and they didn't seem to have an issue with it. Later, the HR manager called, offering a salary much lower than I wanted. I asked for an offer letter but was told they don't issue them, which surprised me. They called on a Friday and wanted an immediate answer, which raised some red flags, so I declined the offer.
- How would you deal with an employee who is difficult to manage?
- How would you bring what you learned at previous jobs to this role?
- Are you a team player?
