First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Redwire.
HR Manager
The first interview was directly with the hiring manager, skipping the usual recruiter call. I didn't move forward because my salary expectations were higher than Redwire's target pay. After the chat, they sent a generic email, which wasn't great for the candidate experience.
- Tell me about your past experience and how it relates to this position.
Systems Engineer
A recruiter reached out because I'm an experienced systems engineer. We talked about my background and what salary I was looking for. I said I wanted about the same as I'm making now, which is around the industry average for this job. The recruiter mentioned that might be asking too much. He said he'd set up a call with the hiring manager, but then I never heard back.
- Are you expecting an annual bonus?
Technical Accounting Manager
The process kicked off with a recruiter phone screen, then two virtual interviews with the director and VP. After those, I asked for feedback and got invited to a third on-site interview, but with no real feedback. I asked if the third interview could be remote since I'm not local, and then they just started ignoring me. I reached out to the director and VP on LinkedIn to see if they could do a case study or technical accounting assignment instead of the third interview to show my skills. The next day, I got an automated email saying I wasn't a "perfect" fit and wouldn't be considered, and of course, no feedback. It was pretty rude to just ignore a final stage candidate and dismiss them because they couldn't do an on-site interview. The communication at the end was super unprofessional, could have at least sent a personalized email with feedback. Watch out, future candidates!
- No concrete questions about the position were asked.
- The leaders seemed more interested in hiring based on personality rather than skills or problem-solving ability.
Mechanical Engineer
I had a few interviews with HR, engineering, and program managers. It was a good overall experience. The technical and personal questions were not too hard. They expect driven employees, but it's in a really exciting and fast-moving field.
- Questions about thermodynamics were asked.
- Questions about manufacturability were asked.
- I was asked to solve mechanical/structural issues on the spot.
