The head of people contacted me a few months after I applied online. They wanted me to send in a video answering some questions. The next step was supposed to be a department interview before a final offer. They said they'd let me know where I stood at each point, but I never heard back after submitting my video.

I applied online and heard back pretty quickly for a 'one-way interview' where I had to respond to questions on a video platform. It was mostly about why I wanted to work there and my resume background. About a month later, I had an in-person interview. The recruiter emailed me with the wrong name and a time to show up. When I got there, there were no instructions on parking or where to go inside. I spent about 15 minutes trying to figure it out, then just went up to the offices to find someone to direct me. The interview itself was pretty standard, asking about the job and my interest in it. I sent a thank you note right after but didn't hear back for almost two weeks. I emailed again, mentioning everyone I'd talked to, but got nothing. I was totally ghosted. It felt really unprofessional, especially since I spent so much time preparing. At least a response saying I wasn't selected would have been appreciated.

A coordinator contacted me about an on-site interview quite a while after I applied. After arriving at Redpepper and checking in as instructed via email, I waited in the lobby. My interviewer was over 25 minutes late, so someone else had to step in. Eventually, my interviewer arrived but offered no explanation for the delay and proceeded with the interview. I had researched the company extensively for hours, as Redpepper was a dream internship for me. However, the interviewer seemed to have barely glanced at my resume and didn't ask many questions. It was one of the worst-conducted interviews I've experienced. I get that companies can be busy, but if an interview is scheduled, it's courteous to inform the interviewee about delays and to at least briefly review their background to show respect for their time, especially if you value them as a potential intern. I was offered another interview with a different department at Redpepper, but I declined. I believe in Redpepper's work, but I do wish the interviewer had shown more respect. A tip for future candidates: prepare many questions.

I got an email back from Julie who scheduled a time with me to talk with my direct supervisor, who I'd be spending the majority of the time with during the internship. We got on google hangout for about half an hour and just spoke casually and openly. They made me feel at ease the entire process.
