Marketing Intern
The interview process started with a basic screening on MS Teams. Then, I had an interview with department employees, followed by a final interview with the department manager. This whole thing took almost 3 months. It took weeks to get an email back even after sending multiple follow-ups. They told me I'd be a great fit and had no reservations about hiring me. Then, a week after they said I'd get an email with the next steps, I got a one-line message saying I didn't get the job. The people I spoke with were great, but the communication from the employers was frustrating, almost cruel. Weeks between emails, needing to send tons of follow-ups to get a response, and no info on where I was in the process. Definitely don't recommend it. Take your talents elsewhere.
- Can you name a brand whose social media presence you admire, and how do you envision yourself contributing to RedPeg?
- How do your past experiences and academic work align with the requirements of this position?
Account Service
Got contacted by the company via LinkedIn and was asked to apply. Had a good initial phone interview. Then, I was tasked with creating a full project proposal and budget, which took a lot of effort. Followed by an in-person interview, which I had to travel and pay for myself (including hotel). The in-person interviews went well, with positive feedback the next day over the phone. I was prepared to relocate for the job. However, communication suddenly stopped. My follow-up emails got very brief replies. It felt like there wasn't a real opening, and I wish they had been more upfront about it so I wouldn't have wasted time and money on the proposal.
- Can you discuss your past work experience?
Marketing Communications Manager
I applied in October 2019 and got a call the next day for a phone interview. They said they'd call back to set up an in-person, but after two weeks of no contact, I followed up. I learned the role was on hold until January 2020. I reached out again in January about the status but heard nothing. Seeing RedPeg post the job again in late February on LinkedIn, I followed up again and got an invite for an in-person interview right away. On the interview day, I showed up ready, but they'd forgotten about it and the hiring manager wasn't there. The recruiter apologized, and I agreed to reschedule. Then COVID-19 hit, so I asked if we could do a virtual interview instead of in-person, which they agreed to. The hiring manager started by saying they were still recruiting but maybe I should stay at my current job because of the situation. While understandable, it was a bit weird. We continued, and despite that comment, they asked me to do a writing exercise, even though I'd already sent writing samples. Normally I wouldn't do these, feeling they waste my time, especially after they already wasted mine multiple times. But I really wanted the job, so I did the assignment. I sent it, got a 'thank you,' and then silence. Looks like hiring is frozen for the year, but some proper notice would've been nice, especially after everything.
- What would you change about our brand or messaging?
Production Coordinator
The whole thing took about a few weeks and was all on Zoom. First, I had a chat with a recruiter. Then, I met with three people from the production team. After that, I talked to three people from different departments across the company. Finally, I had a meeting with the VP of production. It was mostly about me sharing my background and them giving me the lowdown on the company.
- Can you describe your management style?
- If your current boss had to pick three words to describe you, what would they be?
- What qualities make you a strong candidate for this role?
