First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Redgate Software.
Software Engineer
It was a phone screen first. Then I got invited for a second round which was a technical interview. I was given a small project to find any bugs or improvements, and was asked to extend a small functionality.
- What are some basic programming questions related to C#?
- Could you write tests for a C# function?
- Can you extend a C# function to format print output?
Product Marketing Manager
Had a friendly chat with the interviewer who asked a lot of questions and told me what the next steps were. Didn't hear back after that so I had to follow up. Got vague and bad feedback saying I didn't have enough experience for the role, even though I gave examples for everything I was asked about.
- Have you ever conducted competitive analysis?
Account Manager
There's another boring screening with a recruiter that overpromises and under delivers. The interview process is ridiculous for the salary offered. It's a 4 step process with a presentation of technical deliveries which is so unnecessary especially when you are hiring a person that has years of technical industry experience and a team to assist with that. This is what you get for a smaller company apparently.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your background?
Marketing
Redgate really digs deep during their interviews, especially if you're going to be managing people. It involves a role-play and a values chat. Honestly, at first, I thought it took way too long, but hey, I got the job and I've been happy here for over a year now. I can totally see how this process helps Redgate find the right folks and, importantly, helps people figure out if Redgate is actually a good fit for them.
- Describe how you would handle various line management situations.
- What's your approach to dealing with an underperforming team member?
- How would you manage a situation where an employee is negatively impacting the team dynamic?
