First I had a phone screen, then I went in to meet 1:1 with the director of the potential team I would join. The in-person and interview went well, it was a great conversation and the leadership seemed strong. After that, they asked me to take an online aptitude assessment to move forward. I know lots of companies do these tests, but this is where things changed for me – the assessment is vague with questions where you answer on a scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree. For example, one question was 'Do you feel that you are in control of your future?'. In my experience, this is how companies really size you up. If you don't pass this personality test, you won't get selected even if you have proof you can do the job.

The interview process was intense with 3 separate interviews on 3 different occasions. I spoke with HR, my direct supervisor, and department executives. They asked challenging questions, but they were friendly and personable, making the process comfortable and not intimidating.

The interview process was really positive. It started with a group interview where we had a task to complete, and then there was a one-on-one interview afterwards. The interviewers were really supportive and encouraging, and it was great to see how seriously they took the youth worker interviews.
