Revenue Manager
Pretty straightforward interview process. Expect panel interviews with at least two members of your potential team. You'll also have one interview with the department's Senior Directors. The teams seem really nice and personable, with most people having been there for over a decade.
- What motivated you to seek a new role?
Software Engineer
The interview process was really personable. I actually turned down the offer, but I really respected the leaders I met, and they were professional even when making the offer. Nothing was over the top, but in this crazy world, that's perfectly fine.
- What's your approach to making sure internal stakeholders are satisfied?
Human Resources Specialist
I had a phone interview on a Monday and it was a really good experience because the person I spoke with was super friendly. She said she'd be making decisions the next week, but then two weeks passed with no word. I emailed to follow up, but got no response. I emailed again a week later, still nothing. The following week, I got an automated rejection email. I'm not even mad about not getting the job, I get that it doesn't always work out. But I was just shocked by the lack of respect shown by the HR department to applicants. It made me wonder how I would have been treated as an employee. It's just disappointing because I really want to work for Columbus companies, but this experience showed me their true colors. Applicants deserve courtesy and respect, and companies that can't offer that likely won't be around for long.
- What makes you a compelling candidate for this role?
General Manager
The interview process involved a one-on-one session focusing on general management style questions. I was asked to describe my actions in various hypothetical situations and discuss my approach to P&L objectives, interpreting financial figures, and identifying key focus areas. The interviewer was great, creating a challenging but low-pressure environment. The home office staff was very supportive. This role isn't for beginners in the hotel industry; at least two years of general manager experience is crucial, otherwise, the interview would have been significantly more demanding. It seems like there were a few stages, including initial screening, an in-person or onsite interview, a background check, and finally, an offer.
- What would you do if a guest complained about a rude front desk employee, and you also had to deal with the employee?
- Can you tell me about your management style?
- How would you respond in various potential situations?
