First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Red Hat.
Software Quality Engineer
The interview has 2 rounds. First round is the managerial round, conducted by the manager you will join. Questions on first round (30min) mine was related to playwright because the project I would be working on uses playwright and I worked on playwright with my previous company. Second round was 90min conducted by team members of the team and will be like rapid fire!
- Tell me about your background.
- What are the pre and post requisites?
- Why is playwright better?
Quality Engineer
So first you apply and they screen you, the recruiter will call you for a quick chat. Then, there's an initial interview where they just wanna talk about your background and stuff. If they think you need it, they might give you some technical tests or tasks. After that, you'll have a panel or second interview with the hiring manager and the team to dig deeper. They also check if you fit the company culture. For the final interview, you'll probably meet with some senior people to make the final decision. Then they do reference and background checks. If all goes well, they'll make you an offer and you can negotiate. Finally, there's onboarding.
- On average, how many bugs do you find per day?
Quality Engineer
Applied online and within a week, I got a call from the recruiter asking about my basic skills. Then they scheduled an interview for the following week. The first round was a technical interview with questions mostly about implementation, and it was a bit tougher than moderate. I didn't hear back after following up via email and calls. A week later, a different recruiter from Red Hat called to set up a second round, which was a technical panel interview. This one was tough, but I managed to answer most of the questions. On the same day, after the interview, the recruiter called to schedule a managerial round for the next day. I felt the interview went pretty well. The manager then mentioned the hiring manager would contact me to discuss salary and joining date. After that, there was no communication. The recruiters ignored my follow-up emails (I sent two) and didn't call back. They basically ghosted me.
- Tell me about your experience with the TestNG framework.
- What do you know about the Junit framework?
- Can you describe the main concepts of OOP?
